Keswick activities and Keswick walks

The Lake District national park is world renowned for the quality and variety of walks to suit all abilities, and Swinside Lodge is the ideal base for a walking holiday in the Lake District! We offer hearty home-made packed lunches (including choice of sandwiches, juice, fruit, chef's homemade energy bar all for £7.50) drying facilities and boot storage, as well as personal advice on where to walk. Feel free to pick our brains when you are here, or otherwise here are some suggestions to whet your appetite:

Walks

Cat Bells – 3.5 miles from the hotel, a car-free day out! The walk to Cat Bells literally starts from our door - in fact there are lovely views of the mountain from the rear of Swinside Lodge.

Derwentwater Lakeshore – another car-free day out! Why not walk down to the lake and catch the Keswick Launch across to the town of Keswick for an afternoon's visit? There are many outdoor clothing shops as well as places for a drink or a bite to eat. We are 10 minutes walk from the Hawes End landing stage. For a map click here.

Barrow Fell - 3 miles, 1494 ft, starting from the village of Braithwaite. An easy climb and though not a high summit the panoramic 360 degree views are stunning. More information available to download here.

Brund Fell & Kings How – 5.5 miles, 1500 ft, a 3 hour circular walk over unique terrain in the Lake District. More information available to download here.

Ashness Bridge & Watendlath – 8.5 miles, 5 hours - a more challenging walk. Ashness Bridge is one of the most photographed places in the Lake District, definitely worth a visit. More information here.
